Workforce Development Program of the Year Award

The SCOAR Workforce Development Program Award recognizes exemplary and innovative training, education, or other career development initiatives, that encourage individuals to pursue careers in the construction industry and/or elevate the construction skills of current craft professionals.

Award recipients receive a $1,000 training grant, are recognized at SCOAR’s Winter Meeting, and will be featured in The Voice Southeastern magazine, SCOAR’s annual publication.

NOMINATION CYCLE

Accepting Nominations October 1-December 1, 2025

SCOAR’s 2025 Workforce Development Program of the Year nomination cycle is October 1-December 1. The program includes nonprofit and for-profit awards. 

The deadline for submission is 5 p.m. on December 1.

The Award Guidelines provide an overview of the program, the nomination process, eligibility requirements, important dates, selection process, presentation, and hints for success.  

PROGRAM

Eligibility

  1. Nominations must be submitted by a representative of a SCOAR member company in good standing.
  2. There are two separate award categories:

a. Nonprofit: industry organizations, building trades unions, public/private partnerships, and other non-profit organizations.

b. For Profits: Owners, Contractors, suppliers, vendors, or combination

  1. The nomination and supporting documentation must be submitted electronically by 5 p.m. on December 1, 2025, to be considered.
  2. Program award recipients are not eligible to apply for the following award cycle.

AWARD

Selection Process

Nominations submitted will be reviewed and evaluated by an expert panel from SCOAR’s Workforce Development Committee, according to the criteria detailed in the WFD Program Award Rubric. Submitted programs will be judged on

  • Scope
  • Innovation
  • Creativity
  • Objectives
  • Results/ Outcomes
  • Best practices
  • Benefit to the industry
  • Replicability

Nominations must be submitted no later than 5 p.m. on December 1, 2025. Nominations must be submitted electronically.

  • It is important to note that certain portions of the submission WILL BE available publicly after the nomiation is submitted. These fields will be clearly marked. The purpose of this is to make outstanding programs available to the marketplace so others can learn and improve as well.
  • Other portions of the application are NOT available to the public. These fields will be clearly marked and will only be used for evaluation purposes by the judges.
